Hmm. This feels odd, this writing things down into a computer thing.

Sadly, or not so sadly most likely, I have no pictures of echidnas I feel the need to post in order to placate my own mild obsessions.

Nope, just a few sparse details and updates.

What have I been listening to?  Strangely, an awful lot of metal still.  Of the Viking, Amon Amarth type, or to get really goofy, a french metal band called Gojira's album all about global warming and how all the whales are from outer space and can fly and maybe will be headed From Mars to Sirius

So it's been oscillating between brutal, heavy, gutturally sung music or not nearly so angry acoustic stuff, such as Fire on Fire

And for some reason the internets have been showing me a few metal oriented things today such as this and an article at the well regarded  online publication that Lane is now an editorial assistant at, Strange Horizons.

Oh, speaking of Lane and I also have a new nephew:

HE EATS YOUR THOUGHTS

And here's Baker Cleveland Bowen with his folks and a mustachioed Pete visiting from the Czech Republic.

Some of you folks reside in a swing state...

Any comments on what the gist of politics are like away from the pretty-well-decided city I'm currently residing in?

I've been doing a bit of bad drawing lately.

it tickles

I've gone ahead and set up another location for echidna related ephemera.  Maybe someday I'll restrict my tedium to that url, but boredom is a harsh mistress these days.

Echidna-icity

YOU DON'T KNOW ME TOMES.

I also got the autograph of Art Spiegelman and Jason the other day

Now I'm not one to get overly effusive about a dang t-shirt, but I am pretty excited about today receiving  three of em. One with a gorilla biting a snake in half, one with a bear commanding a tank, and one with pterodactyls who shoot lasers from their eyes.  Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of that I might find more exciting than pterosaurs with laser sight would be an echidna riding on the head of a giant river otter.
But more importantly, I can maybe put off laundry a few days.

I am very much enjoying the new Bonnie 'Prince' Billy record.  Now it seems to me he just put out a new record not so long ago, and I really enjoyed The Letting Go, but I think I may like Lie Down in the Light a degree or two more.

The new My Morning Jacket isn't so bad either.  I imagine a distraught Jim James thinking to himself at some point in the last year or so:

Wow, Band of Horses sure sounds a lot like my band, and yet they're getting all this buzz and money from car commercials that we were never offered.
[sigh]
I'm going to go listen to some Supertramp.
